This refers to skin conditions such as:

  • Systemic or cutaneous lupus erythematosus
  • Dermatomyosis
  • Scleroderma
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

These often present with skin symptoms such as:

  • Photosensitivity (Sensitive to the sun)
  • Redness of the skin due to the following:
  • A non-specific skin rash
  • Vessels of the skin being affected (vasculitis)
  • Blister
  • Ulcers

What is important is that the skin is only one of many organs affected.  The joints may experience pain or stiffness.  There may be gastrointestinal symptoms such as:

  • Cramps
  • Difficulty swallowing

Lastly there are often non-specific symptoms such as tiredness and just not feeling like “yourself “.
